6 Things Your Dog is Thankful For

Thanksgiving is coming up quick! Dogs are definitely something we are grateful for. Man’s Best Friend is a truly special gift, and his loyalty, love, and friendship are well worth celebrating. But if Fido could list the things he appreciates, what do you think would be on his list? A local Rockville, MD vet offers a few educated guesses below.

Walks

Walks are of course necessary for sanitary reasons. However, they are also one of Fido’s favorite daily activities. The fresh air, exercise, and stimulation are all great for your canine buddy. Plus, this is a great time for you to spend time with your four-legged friend.

Adventures

Many of our canine friends really love to go to new places. Indulge your pet’s sense of adventure be taking him to new parks or trails on occasion. Fido will also enjoy a trip to a dog-friendly café for a special snack.

Toys!

It’s almost impossible not to chuckle when watching a frisky pup run after a ball or jump after a Frisbee. Playing is fun for dogs, but it’s also great for them, both mentally and physically. Pick up a new toy for Fido!

Treats

If there’s one thing that will get your furry buddy’s tail going, it’s the thought of a yummy snack. Bacon may be at the top of the list, but Fido will also be thrilled with store-bought doggy treats; small pieces of plain, boneless meat, fish, or chicken; and/or shredded deli meat. For extra Thanksgiving tail wags, make your pooch some homemade goodies. You’ll find some great recipes online. Just stick to dog-safe ingredients.

Beds

Fido is pretty adorable when he’s snoozing in his doggy bed. Make sure your pooch has a comfy place to sleep! (Hint: a new bed would make a great holiday gift for your furry best bud!)

You

More than anything, dogs are thankful for their human friends. After all, you’re the center of your pet’s world. Fido definitely appreciates the love and care you give him. Your canine companion may show his gratitude in some adorable ways, like licking your face or putting a paw on your knee. Doggy cuteness is something we can all be thankful for!
